Do you think it would be possible to get applications together by Dec. 30 when I don't have anything started for Harvard? Could get the applications in with no problem but do the transcript, recommendations have to be in by Dec. 30 as well or will they accept them if it's a few days later?

You still have time to apply. You can send your transcript, reccs, later than Dec. 30.

Northstarmon, do you know how much later?

I don’t know. If you want to have a chance, apply even if your application arrives late. The majority of applications to colleges are sent on the day that they need to be postmarked. Clearly, the admissions office isn’t going to be able to go through and file 10,000 or more applications that all arrive on the same day.

Colleges like Harvard are far more interested in the amassing the best possible student bodies than penalizing students whose applications weren’t completed by the exact deadline. It’s public universities that are more likely to be inflexible about deadlines.

I know someone who got into Stanford for a doctoral program even though he sent his application in late.

So… don’t deliberately send your app in late, but if you just realized that you want to apply to Harvard, go for it!

I forgot to add that my own Harvard application was completed late. I didn’t start working on it until Christmas break, so my reccs and transcripts arrived late. I still got an acceptance letter.

^ The same goes for additional recs? On the commonapp I could not upload a third rec, so I now have to ask my teacher for a paper copy to mail in. The problem however, is that it’s winter break right now and I won’t be able to see him until Jan 4th.

Northstarmom, I have a question regarding applications for you…that is if you are free.

Northstarmom, thanks a lot. that was encouraging and son clicked the button a while ago…

Many reccs arrive later than the app due date.
