Is it too late to send an update??

Hey everyone,

I was notified TODAY that one of my poems was accepted for print publication (paid) to a professional literary journal with a sub-1% acceptance rate. Of course, it’s not as well-known / selective as The New Yorker or Poetry, but it’s Tier 1 as per Duotrope and well-reputed among the professional writing community.

Should I update my REA college with the news considering how decisions will be released later this week? I have already sent in an update (about a televised literary award and a Pushcart Prize nomination, both international honors), and I’m worried that another update would further irritate the admissions officers. I do already have a few sub-1% rate publications listed on my Common App, so should I hold onto the news and then update if I get deferred (statistically the most likely outcome for me)?

Thanks!

Send now as an fyi, understanding that they might have already made a decision. Most schools would add to your portfolio without an issue. And congratulations! Ok to be proud and loud. Good luck.
