A figure in my community has just offered to send an additional letter of recommendation to the schools I applied to (Cornell, Yale, and a few others). He is the CEO of a large nonprofit and is very clever, so I'm sure the letter would be excellent.

Does anyone know when admissions offices begin to decide between applications? If Cornell and Yale have already decided whether they want me or not, I don't think it will make much difference. But can it hurt to send anyway?
