In fact,in the past months i've been studying for the SAT.However, during this summer i finally found out that ACT is the right thing for me......So i took a practice test and i got a 29.75------>30.

I'm going to take the ACT in October,do you think it's too late to start preparing?(i want a 33+)

I don’t think it would be too late to start preparing. You would still have at least two months before the test. For me, that would be plently of time, but I’m not sure if you would want more time to prepare. However, if you think that the ACT is the right thing for you, I think that you should give it a shot, because at the least two months is still a decent amount of time.

Well, you used a practice test so your 29 is up for question depending on what book you used. And it’s fairly uncommon to go from a 29->33+ in 2 months unless you already have the innate talent. 33+ generally requires some innate talent that you’re born with or rigorous studying\learning (long time). If you’re already getting consistent 30+s every practice test you take every time, you could possibly get that elusive 33. :P

Generally the people who jump several points from the 1rst to 2nd test are people who just took it for the first time to get an idea of what the test is like. 2nd time, they take it for real and get their true score. Or maybe they just had a bad day or something.

I can evidence what cjgone has said
like you yipyip, I reverted to ACT last summer and took the test in sept first time and october 2nd time

managed 30 in september and 34 in october

if you have been doing rigorous SAT prep, I would say the only thing you need to really concentrate on is the science portion of the ACT (working with time limits is key) as you’ll find the english/reading are much easier than SAT while math is similar in difficulty (note that time limits on ACT are much tighter than SAT’s)
