Is it too late to submit SAT score?

My S got accepted to the School of Business and Honors college at U of Pitt. He is waiting to hear the merit scholarship decision.

He took SAT in October and got a higher score (CR: 740, M: 800 and W: 800) than previously submitted. We were led to believe the merit scholarship letter could come in any day now, is it too late to submit his latest SAT score for merit scholarship? BTW, he had composite score of 35 in ACT on his application.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all!!

You could submit the new score, but I don’t think it will affect anything. After a certain point, like 1500+/1600 you’re already set in the test score category. If for some crazy reason someone doesn’t get a merit scholarship with those numbers, it’s going to be because of something other than test scores. A 35 ACT I believe is already equivalent to a 2340.

right on…[SAT-ACT Conversion chart](http://spart6.org/dhs/Guidance%20website/SAT-ACT%20Conversion%20chart.html)

Or, if you want a more official one - http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html</a></p>

It’s basically the same thing, but if you really want to send it in go right ahead. I could only see it helping you.

A 35 ACT is converted to a 1550 at Pitt and I agree if there is no merit money then it is because of something else.

We requested his latest SAT score to be sent to U of Pitt Friday night and we just got his scholarship letter today (Saturday). You were all right, his latest SAT score did not make a difference.

He was awarded Full Tuition Honors Scholarship and asked to apply for Chancellor’s scholarship. He is very excited.

Good luck to all of you in college and scholarship search!

Congrats! Is he going to apply for the Chancellor? Is the turn-around time still 2 weeks to submit the essays for the Chancellor?

The turn around time is still 2 weeks and there are three essays to write. He is still deciding whether to apply for it. To me, getting the chancellor scholarship is a far reach to most students, given the # of students to apply and # of students who finally will get it.

But, he is very excited of getting the full tuition scholarship, especially for the fact that we are out of state.

Haha, I remember getting the letter asking to apply for Chancellor’s. I got lazy because I already had full tuition so I didn’t apply for it.

Yes but you never know if you don’t apply. I agree full tuition is nothing to sneeze at and we were very excited when son got his full tuition scholarship (OOS too).

I’m in a similar position to the poster’s son (accepted to business school early, improved a lot on october SAT after getting accepted), except mine went from a 2040 (1330) to a 2210 (1500). If I submit the new score for scholarship consideration, do I have to tell somebody? I might’ve gotten passed over already for scholarship consideration. I also don’t remember if I checked the box off for honors college (I filled my app out quickly on my campus visit in person), or if I just got rejected for it. Do I have to appeal or something with my new score?

^ If you get something less than full tuition, call/contact OAFA.

^Ha it would be really nice if I got full tuition, but my unweighted gpa is like 3.4 (weighted is 4.3 though), and school doesn’t rank. In fact I would probably send in my deposit the day I got that.

^^^ Send in the new score, and then call or e-mail OAFA to follow up. You don’t want to fall through the cracks.
