I handed in my primary application and got a few secondaries already. I didn't do great on my MCAT, but I didn't do to poorly on it either; just not as well as I wanted. If I were to retake the MCAT, the next available seating is August 4th I think. Would it be worth it if I take it in August? Also, could I show the new MCAT score (which I guess would come out early September) to the med schools I am filling out secondaries for?

I heard the later you take the MCATs, the worse chance you have of getting in

Thanks for your help !

How poorly are we talking about? I think you have to also consider the fact that you might do worse on the retake, which will make you late and have a lower score. I think you should be confident that you can substantially improve your score.

talent982,
When did you apply? What you think is poorly, might not be so. Check the list of average MCATs for each school. Most top school list 35 as average.

I sent in my primarily application on July 1st and took my MCAT in the end of May. I got a 28 on my MCATs but I am positive I can do much better. I checked our AMCAS and it said people with a 28 MCAT and 4.0 average have a 68.3% chance of getting into medical school.
