i'm a sophomore in high school, and NYU has been my dream school for as long as i can remember.

last year my gpa was a 4.1 unweighted i think, until i failed the math class i was taking. that brought my gpa down to a ridiculously low point average of around 2.8 (i know i know i know). this year, i again failed this separate math class i was taking, and i didn't do so well on some of my other classes.
but my school allows you to re-take a course online for grade forgiveness, and the previous grade is dismissed and replaced with the new one. if i do that, and manage to pull my gpa back up to what it was before, should i be on track (assuming i do well on my ACT and SAT, as well as the AP exams i'm going to be taking) to even bother applying? or would you say it's too late?

even if it seems like it's too late, i'm still going to re-take all of those courses, because you never know.

i also have a lot of volunteer hours, extracurricular activities, and awards so i'm hoping that does get considered
