I've always been a typical "lazy" student that would do the bare minimum to squeak by with a B average. However, now that I'm in college I've realized that just isn't going to cut it anymore...I'm a sophomore with a dismal 2.4 gpa. I've had a lot of extenuating circumstances that have led to this but that's another story.

I'm currently having the worst semester of my life and I am not ok with this. The bottom line is I want to change the way things are going, and get into a Big 10 grad school(Political Science...undecided on concentration). I am an intelligent guy, very well read, excellent writer, know how study and do well, but I fell a little too far into the party scene and ruined everything. (student at SIU-C......)

Basically my question is that having taken 45 credit hours and attaining said 2.4 gpa, is it too late for me to turn things around and by the time i apply for grad school raise it to at least a 3.4 and get into a Big 10 grad school? (assuming I maintain a 4.0 from next semester on out.)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
