I have taken the SAT twice but my highest score has been extremely low -
I got 1040. My guidance councelor told me it would not be too later to take the SATs in January. I'm going to take the ACT for the first time in December and I'm hoping to get a much higher score. Do you think it will be too late for me to take the SATs? Do you think it's necessary to take the SATs again?

For 90% of schools, it's NOT too late. I've checked with some of the top colleges, and none have indicated that they will not accept the January test scores, as long as you RUSH them (although Columbia asks you not to rush scores, because they receive them electronically). Therefore, if you are willing to do some SIGNIFICANT preparation before January, I would say just go for it.

Best of luck!
