Hey guys, I recently graduated high school and now I'm on my summer break. During my 2nd semester of my high school, I applied to 2 research positions for something to do over the summer. Unfortunately, I got rejected from back. I didn't have a back-up to my summer plans. So now, I am left with nothing to do. I'm applying for retail jobs but I would rather not spend my summer working in retail only because I want to experience new stuff. I'm kind of frustrated at myself but is there anything I could do over the summer that will give me cool experiences? Btw, I live in Chicago.

I worked retail when I was your age a decade ago, and am now fairly successful in a career. There’s nothing wrong with working retail the summer after you graduated high school. You still have plenty of time to ‘experience new stuff’ before the real world begins.
