So basically, I didnt realize until recently how much i wanted to go to cornell (for cals bio major). Yet because my sat scores that are below par (620v, 620w, 710m = 1330/1950), my chances for getting in are pretty low (although ive taken basically the most challenging courses my school offers and have done really well in them, in addition to some great ECs such as summer research, leadership in youth group etc...). I was wondering if there is any way, at this point, I can increase my chances at cals by showing interest or whatever!? My guess is ive just screwed myself over and it's too late at this point but please, any suggestions- let me know! Thanks!

1950 is not below par.......Don't let CC distort you with its overachieving stance......

Ditto that 1950 is not grounds for an automatic rejection. If the rest of your application shows strong academic work/interest, then you absolutely have a good chance for admittance. As I understand CALS, your admission will be decided by the department of the major that you indicated on your application. So, if you listed a 1st and 2nd choice major, then you have 2 chances to get into Cornell. I'm not sure if emailing the department to show interest would be helpful or not though.

Thanks for your comments. Also, does it really hurt my chances that I applied for the bio major but i havent taken bio since 9th grade? Also, I think my chem teacher put in her recc that i wanted to major in chem (that was true a year ago...). I decided to take AP chem this year for a number of reasons over ap bio (namely the teacher), but yeah- did it hurt my chances?
