Recently I have taken interest into visual arts (specifically architecture) but upon looking for schools with art programs, most require a portfolio which I have not prepared for at all. I have been studying classical piano at LACHSA and I feel limited as to what my choices are when applying to schools with visual art programs. What is my best bet? What should I do?

Preparing the portfolio could potentially happen in 1 day. The question is, do you have the WORK that you would want to display in the portfolio?

Sorry, I should have specified in my original post but the answer is no. I have not had any specialized training in the area nor do I have the work needed for portfolios. However, I do want to expand and improve on this aspect because I think I have the talent and am willing to put in the work to do so. (I really don’t mean to sound conceited… I’m just really interested in what I could accomplish if I ultimately choose to take this path somehow.) Thank you so much.

If this is a serious thought of yours, then you need to get objective verification of any ability you might have. Interest without actual innate as well as potential skill may lead you down a disappointing avenue. Maybe take a course at a community college? Get feedback from professionals who will objectively critique you. Good luck.
