is it too late?!

Hey guys. i noticed that a LOT of people have already turned in their applications, and i have still not finished mine. I will be done by wednesday thank god, but do you think this is too late? all of my freinds at school have turned in their applications several weeks ago, and a umich rep said, in the bginning of september, that over 1000 applications were already sent in. will my "lateness" hurt my chances?

mid-october is OK, its not like you are at a huge disadvantage. the majority of applicants probably haven't even sent theirs in yet either.

I highly doubt over a 1000 applications were turned in in the beginning of september; it just seems unlikely. They haven't even started looking at apps yet anyways.

1000 isnt that much considering the get ovre 20k applications per year, a number which usually increases per year. don't sweat it, there is nothing you can do at this point, just send it in ASAP and hope for the best.

Agreed.

I called two days ago (Friday) and the lady said they hadn't even started looking at them yet...so even if you don't make the first 'batch', you have alot of time. Either way, get that thang in! And your app will be complete in probably a few weeks.

I am getting my app in by the end of the day. The only thing holding it up may be my teacher rec and will be my transcript. My school only take transcript requests in the last week of September and needs 3 weeks to send out transcripts after the request. It doesnt matter to me or my classmates if every app is in September 1 or mid October because transcripts are everything, and the school/county is very slow with them down. Transcripts are the most important part, so i dout they would even read an application without the stuent's grades and courses. The mich adcom told my school you just need everything in by November 1 at the latest. One or two weeks should make little differene for a school that admits 10,000 people.

My GC told us to have all the paperwork in her office by Halloween.

My GC was so fast, she sent it out the same day I asked her to. My app has been complete for a month now. UM just updated WA to actually reflect this last week. So there is a sizeable delay.

my admissions counselor at umich, ladreika stubblefield, said that by mid september they recived 1000 apps, and by now im sure that number has swollen up to 3000 apps. im submitting my app tonight, and my teacher is mailing hi rec in tomorrow. my counselor already sent hers 2 weeks ago. is this alright?

It's more than fine. Plus, there's nothing you can do about it so don't stress. This is still early.

You should be fine. I applied around the 31st last year. Besides, isn't Michigan on rolling admission?

Please, this is too early to be panicking. If you apply in october, you're still pretty early. You may not be the earliest, but it's not LATE.

How did you find out who your admissions counselor is?

ours visits our school o.O

It starts getting late, especially in the case of marginal candidates, after Thanksgiving. But hand in your application as soon as possible.
