Is it too late?

(Sorry I posted this somewhere else but it seemed like not many people were looking at it and I'd really appreciate an answer soon)

I'll be a senior this year when school starts late August. I don't have any volunteer experience, so would it be too late if I started now and wanted to get in a decent amount before November (which is the earliest date some of my college applications will need to be in)? I was wanting to volunteer at a local hospital, and I'd probably continue for as long as I can even after November because I would enjoy helping people.

Also, what is a decent amount of hours and what is preferred?

These are the better colleges I'll be applying to if it helps:

College of Wooster
Case Western Reserve University
University of Chicago

And there's a few other schools but they're safeties so I'm not worried as much about them

Thanks in advance :]

Do you have any other EC’s you were involved in? There is no magic number of hours you need and volunteering at a hospital, while good, is quite cliche. Consider some other types of volunteer. You definitely have enough time if you start now.

Yeah, I’m involved in other EC’s, here they are:

Concert Band - Section Leader
Marching Band - Section Leader
Jazz Band
Steel Band
All-County Band - Section Leader
Solo & Ensemble Contest
Academic Quiz Team
SADD (students against destructive decisions)
Jr. Optimists - Secretary
French Club - Secretary
Science Club
DDR Club (yes it’s Dance Dance Revolution lol)

I’m also going to start a club this year, an Improv Club. (Does that look good to found a club?)

And I know that sounds kinda cliche but there really aren’t many options where I live because it’s such a small town.

Well band takes up a great deal of time leaving little time to do other things, I think colleges realize that. But yeah your EC’s sound good, volunteering at a hospital should be fine. Some other things: mentoring troubled youth, passing out lunches to homeless people, coaching a youth sports team…

Yeah, band definitely takes up a lot of time. But thanks for your answer :]
