Is it too much to ask?

I am from Dublin,Ireland and am thinking of going to a boarding school in the USA
The school I am interested in is a 5 day boarding school in Pittsburgh,PA
I have a good friend in Zelienople,PA(30-40 mins away) who went to my school in Ireland
Is it too much to ask can I stay with them most weekends?
They said yes but really what are they thinking(The family is a dad,mother,2 daughters and my friend, the son)
I am a mature, independent and also low maintenance kid

I think it’s a lot to ask of people who aren’t your relatives. No matter how much they like you and how polite you are, I think that having you at their home virtually every weekend would end up being burdensome. There definitely will be times the family will not want a guest in their home.

If you want to go to boarding school in the U.S., I think you should apply to those that have students boarding 7 days a week.

I normally don’t post on the high school life forum, but I think that this question is the type that needs a parent’s perspective. I also suggest that you post it on Parents Forum.

It depends on your habits. We have a foreign exchange student living with us for the year, and it goes really well the great majority of the time. However, weekends are when families tend to go do things together, so that may be a bit of an issue.

It really depends on the family. We took in a total stranger for the year!
