Is it true that FAU is a big commuter school

My daughter was accepted here but heard it was a big commuter school so was concerned about dorm life or on campus life being dull. can anyone share any thoughts insights or experience?

My oldest son is a junior at FAU. He was in the dorms his freshman year, at home for his sophomore covid year, and lives in an on-campus apartment for his current junior year. He has had a great experience. From the on-campus football stadium to being close to the beach, there is a lot going on for students.

FAU has about 25k undergrads. It has housing for about 4000, so about 20% live in campus housing. That is not unusual for a big university - usually freshmen live on campus and others live nearby.

I know a few kids who went there and they all lived in the dorms and did not go home (3.5 hours away) on weekends. They were involved in greek life, sports, clubs, and certainly hung out at the beach a lot.
