^ lol A1. But yeah I totally agree. If your professors hold conferences for your papers I cannot stress enough the importance of paying attention and taking note of what your professor seems to want, and be sure to bring a complete workable outline and well-researched evidence. If you get all that done your professor’s tips will be exponentially useful.

they stack the grades so that if you do better later on, it counts a lot more.

Assignment 1 5%
A2 10%
A3 15%
A4 25%

final portfolio (A5, revision of a past essay, timed writing) - 35%

participation/attendance - 10%

so i got a C+ on my first essay, but gradually did better and ended up with an A-

and the timed writing really isnt part of your grade, its just something they check off

cant say I enjoyed this class very much. never got under an A for my papers in other classes, yet ended up with a B- in this class. Profs nitpick and if you dont write in their style, dont expect a high grade.

part of good writing is learning how to write for your audience. the students who do well in WRIT 140 will be those who are able to recognize what their professors prefer and adapt their style to it.

^ and you can totally figure your professors preferences by just making sure to actually read the comments. Some ppl just look at their grade straight and ignore comments lol
