Is it true that lower division science courses (Chem3B , Bio 1A) are harder

Is it true that lower division science courses (Chem3B , Bio 1A) are harder to get a good grades ( A or -A) than the other upper science courses at Berkeley? (Due to xxxxxxx CURVE )

EX: Ochem : 15%~20% gets A & -A... next 35% gets Bs.. bottom 50% get's C or D -_-

which means, if u just do "average" in class, u will end up with +C or -B which is 2.3 or 2.7.

It's generally true. MCB has tough curves for most upper-divs though.

..yes. The lower division classes are generally the weeder courses; the grade distribution relaxes a lot more when you go higher up.

Remember that MCB is the hardest bio majors (ignoring chem-bio) and one of the (if not the) hardest L&S majors, explaining why it does not follow the norm.
