10s4life has said that computer science has so many qualified applicants that even one C is grounds for getting rescinded. I’m aware that he’s a reputable source.
Is this true? This seems odd considering that UCLA officially states that 2 C’s is what gets you rescinded. It seems unfair that CS students unknowingly have different standards.
Thank you!
(As for me, there’s a high chance I’ll get one C and a 2 Bs. However, 5/7 of my classes are AP’s. Can I get rescinded?)
@DisneylandTree Grounds for and actually getting rescinded isn’t the same thing. What is your C and Bs in? Bs are fine. @alicantekid prob has more insight on this particular issue.
@10s4life Thank you for your response! My C is in AP Statistics. B’s are AP Biology and AP Literature.
One C usually isn’t going to get you rescinded. Just don’t get another one in spring, especially in any STEM class.
Thanks! Does this mean one C must be balanced out with straight A’s? How many B’s can I receive?
I have two classes where the majority of students cheat using their phones due to how difficult the tests are (mock AP tests are graded without curves). Thus everyone still maintains A’s except me and the teacher has no idea how difficult his/her class is.
Maybe someone should tell that teacher-anon works. As in"maybe students shouldn’t be allowed to use their phones during tests because…"
Actually, I have. One teacher now collects phones at the beginning of tests, but students simply turn in a mock phone (borrowed from friends) and continue to cheat.
@alicantekid @10s4life I’m sorry for sounding paranoid, but I wanted to check in and ask for some clarification. For incoming CS students, what high school grades won’t get you rescinded?
Do they count + and - when looking at final transcript grades?
I worked hard since I made that post and I’m now expecting 1 C, 2 B, 4 A. I’m taking 4 AP classes. Is this okay?
Most high schools don’t give +/- grades, but if they do, I believe they would consider a C+ to still be a C grade.
If you got 1 C, 2 B’s and 4 A’s you’re probably okay, but don’t take my word for it.
