Yeah I heard that its 60% female and 40% male. And they're mostly gay. Any truth to this??
Thanks :]

NYU is 60/40 female/male, that’s correct. Of all the men, 31% openly identified as gay. Doing the math, that means that of the entire student body, it’s 60% female, roughly 12.5% gay male, and 27.5% straight male.

And many would debate even those figures. Keep in mind that that figure is only those who are out. There are definitely more bisexual, bicurious, or simply closeted kids as well.

NYU is heaven for straight guys.

Perhaps heaven in the sense that women who are desperately looking for sex are more likely to want you cause you, a straight guy, are like the second coming of Christ.

But thats probably a bit of a stretch

Believe what you want, but I’m sure most straight guys at NYU only think about one thing: the end result.

btw, apne ki bangla bolen?

i noticed in another thread that you’re bengali and was wondering if you speak bangla…

Honestly, maybe I’m crazy but I’ve met a lot of straight guys at NYU, more than I was led to believe would be there. Remember, there are gay girls here too, so that takes some of your competition out of the running on that end. Personally, I met my current boyfriend at NYU, and every one of my female friends (including a friend from Columbia) has had varying types of relationships with at least one guy here. It’s not that hard really. Also, if you can’t meet them at NYU you’ll find them throughout the city itself. It’s not like NYU is in another world barred off from the surrounding city.

ami formal bangla ja ni na. amar amu et abu Bangladesh born hoi se lo et amar bon (shay Columbia te graduate hoi se) and ami, New York eh born hoi si.

Yeah…kind of hard to type Bengali in English.

“NYU is heaven for straight guys.”

Haha. Not quite.

Oh ****, I applied ED to NYU. Hope I don’t mix in with the crowd and become gay.

^ It’s okay, dude. I hear scientists are developing medicine that helps guys stay straight, even when gays assault them with their fabulousness. Should be on the black-market soon enough.

ami o akta bangali

<3

haha, Photographer.

fartman, your comment is really ignorant. people don’t choose to become gay, they are born gay.

I don’t know. I’ve seen straight guys go to all-guys universities/schools and turn out gay.

lol thanks! yeah, i dont really like the uneven gender distribution, but i guess its something that could be looked over.

For the record, I just met an NYU '15er from my area who is cute, tall, a “nice Jewish boy”, interested in classical music, and - wait for it - straight! There’s hope!

NYU is located in the heart of New York City’s design, fashion and theater industries. It’s a bustling city with tons of different cultures and beliefs. A large homosexual population is to be expected, and frankly, I think it adds to the diversity.

If you pick not to go to NYU because you are afraid of “becoming” gay, then I don’t know what to tell you. It’s like not going to a school full of women because you’re afraid that they might convince you to get a sex change.

Fartman, you will not do well at NYU with that attitude. Find another school.

boondocks where’d you get that 31% statistic? just curious.

Actually, since NYU is in the heart of NYC, a lot of girls date outside of the university (not everyone, though).
