what are the chances for OSS???am i okay, or should i kill myself??
suggestions

so here’s the thing: you are a strong applicant. you have a good shot. But even the best get rejected sometimes - even little to-be harvard boys. Given your stats, however, you are sure to go somewhere very good - so you can feel good about that. if you REALLY want Duke and nothing else (in which case I advise you to open your mind a bit because Duke is unique but not THAT unique), I would apply ED. ED doesn’t always give you an advantage, but it does at Duke. Want an example? I had a 2050 (!!!) on my SATS, which is WAY WAY WAY too low for Duke, but i applied ED and got in. NOW, I did have a few things on that application that made me truly one of a kind (no sob stories or race cards, though), but the point is i probably wouldn’t have gotten in without ED.

i just want to know why you listed grades for classes you havent taken yet… haha

srry, those are the grades i think I am gonna get (sorta predictions)
i’m kinda sure about them though, cuz I talked to ppl who took the courses and got a feeling of what I would be up against

I have no idea how the title of the thread relates to its content… looking at your information, you have a decent chance though. Good luck getting the grades you predicted (not sarcasm).

If you retake and get 1500+ on the SAT (Math & Critical Reading), I think you should definitely be able to get into Duke ED.
Otherwise, it is likely but deferral is a possibility.

Most people I know who got into ED rocked the SAT.

lol Mondo, I think I’m an exception to that rule too.

2090 SAT–>Duke ED
(tho i did take the ACT)

so if i apply ED after improving my SAT’s to 2250, am i good?

There is never a guaranteed admission; but if you score 2250+ and ED, I am willing to put money on it that you get in.

thanks noobcake, i just hope they are able to understand the type of person I am. Now if i could just write a killer essay…

lol, Hiwei. Actually, I believe it relates directly. You know what, Vishnu, I’m gonna say you’re in mainly based on the title of this thread. Not because the adcoms will like it, but because I think it shows a quirky and at the same time… ambitiously persuasive and intelligent character that I think Duke will appreciate. But then again, what do I know?

He did it so people would click on the thread.

mmmm also an exception –> 2050, ED

bump??
any other suggestions of how I could improve my chances

we’re twins in terms of SATs!!

numbers don’t guarantee anything. improve your chances – write kick ass essays and flaunt your personality (if you have a good one, that is)
a 100 point difference won’t make or break your deal with duke because a 2150 is in the ballpark (IT BETTER BE! I’M A 2160 AND I’M APPLYING TOO. not ED though.)

oh another question: if i apply ED, my gpa will be a 93. If i apply later, b4 the deadline for RD, my gpa will be closer to a 95 (i’m pretty sure). When should I apply?

too late for a bump???

not too late i guess

bump???

I went to Duke website, and the admission rate for last years ED was 42%..Wow!
