You know, small letter = rejection, big letter = acceptance...

I was just wondering haha

You know, small letter = rejection, big letter = acceptance...

I was just wondering haha

I think so. If I recall correctly, all the college acceptance letters that I received contained a housing application and other materials.

Some of my sisters letters of acceptance were deceptively thin

Not always. Sometimes, colleges will send you your acceptance in a small envelope, and the bigger one with more info follows it :)

Most admissions decisions are found out online anyways though

Sometimes, but not always. 2 of my schools sent acceptance letters in small envelopes.

1) you’ll never receive an reject letter in a big package
2) you might receive an accept note in a single letter

3) why aren’t you checking online???

LOL I totally forgot about the online thing. Don’t know if that’s good or bad. Thanks, though!

Most schools don’t even send reject letters to people who access their online decisions. Obviously, acceptees and waitlisters get actual correspondence.

Hmm…so if I’m rejected, it won’t even tell me online? Isn’t there some sort of account you log into?

Never mind lol, I just understood what you were saying. My bad! Slow night.

Yes. All my rejects where in small envelopes. all my admits gave me a fat envelope with all sorts of promotional marketing garbage stuffed in.

Not always. Bard’s acceptance comes in a small envelope (slightly thicker than a one-sheet rejection letter would be, however).

Online, the first few words usually are the key: “Congratulations!” vs “Thank you for your interest in XYZ College…”

No, a couple of my acceptances were small envelopes. For Appalachian State the car sticker, booklet, and other “cool” stuff came a week after the acceptance. Also, UNC apparently sent acceptances in small envelopes. So a small envelope isn’t necessarily a rejection.

However, big envelopes are probably always acceptance letters. I saw my friend’s NC state acceptance. It came in a big red envelope that had “CONGRATULATIONS” in big letters on it. No suspense there.

Washington and Lee acceptance in regular envelope.

^ UNC did not send acceptances in small envelopes. Huge envelope. Totally dominated my mail box lol. :)

And I second what everyone else said. Rejection letters never come in big envelopes, but sometimes acceptance letters come in small envelopes. All my acceptances were in big envelopes though, with folders full of stuff. I was waitlisted to one school, which came in a small envelope. And then I was denied to one school, which I found out about online, but they never sent an envelope.

Oh my gosh haha. I am so scared. Just going to expect having a nice stack of skinny envelopes to burn at the end of the school year lol

Ah, I just thought I heard something like that. Maybe it was the RD acceptance, or one of the UNC-X schools and I’m misremembering.

What does Harvard do? Do they only do online?

Swarthmore’s acceptance comes in an envelope that says “This is the FAT one” :)
