i read on the Brown Univerity forum that princeton doesn't look at ninth grade grades. Is that true? I thought all the ivy league schools looked at all four years of a student's high school career.

yes it's true.

Yay Baby!!!!!!!

Sweet!.......

NICE, my one B won't be seen :P

Ugh, that's unfortunate. My 9th-grade grades were good. :(

I'm sure they'll still get an impression from your 9th grade grades though. If you have a couple of C's, then it still won't look pretty..

wait, so they completely brush over them?

no....

my understanding was that they looked at ninth grade grades (since its on your transcript in plain sight) but they didnt place heavy emphasis on them.

true?

I recall someone mentioning to me that they don't use your freshman grades to calculate your overall GPA but that doesn't stop them from peeking at it. Besides- some people might have a horrible freshman year and gradually improve and that can be a bonus in the eyes of a reader.

^ I hate that philosophy

me too. What, was I supposed to slack in freshman year and get some B's? I don't think it is horrible to get Bs, especially as a freshman, but I think it is kind of dumb that colleges get excited over a rising trend, even if it means a lower cumulative GPA. I'm probably just bitter that I did well freshman year lol :p

I have a rising Gpa and I'm very glad that they do it like that. I mean I got the highest Gpa in my school for the last 2 semesters (I'm a Junior) but I'm still being hit because my frosh and first semester of sophmore year was almost all B's. My rank is 22/365, but if you look at the last 2 semesters, I'd be Val. I hope they can see that.

Still, I'd rather be in your shoes anyday!

i did godd freshman year dam it this hurts me.

This policy only hurts you if you did worse every year after freshmen year, and if that is the case then you would be hurt whether or not Princeton looked at Freshmen year grades. Straight A's is always the best grade trend...upward grade trend is the next best. The transition into freshmen year can be tough (it was for me), so I don't see any reason to get all self-righteous if you did do well freshmen year. You still have the advantage--your overall GPA and rank will be better.

GPA is a number which do not include the socres of G9.
So, BBBB in G9 = AAAA in G9.
