Is it true that I will have no (social life/personal relax time) whatsoever if I become an engineer (EE) at UCLA? With all the great things that go on on campus, will I be able to partake in any of it: join clubs, listen to world renown lectures, performances, etc?

maybe on the weekends

you’ll have time. just not as much as the rest of us lol.

my best friend is a second-year EE major, and i don’t get to see her as much as i’d like, but she manages to do things besides school. you just have to become really, really good at managing your time and prioritizing.

my friend would like me to add that EE does suck your soul, however! “it noms it”

Well, one thing’s for sure, you’re never getting laid.

^
i beg to differ.

how about majoring in chemistry? Would i have more free time than if i did EE?

ok, forget chemistry…

“you’ll have time. just not as much as the rest of us lol.”
does this refer to any particular area of study or generally speaking?

my roommates is an EE. her bf was over all weekend, they were up all night…

^Thats wonderful…anyway EE compared to natural sciences…how much more time do you have if your doing a science degree like chemistry or maths major for example…compared to EE?

Hehe, just a cruel joke :). Seriously though, you should be fine. Just make sure you manage your time well and you’ll have plenty of time to do whatever activities you want.

I’ve heard this discussion loads of time that EE majors don’t have enough time etc. so i’m not that sure that its what i really want to do. I mean i don’t know how long my life and i’m sure i dont want to spend ALL of it studying.

i was just comparing EE (as a south campus major) to myself (north campus). i’m not even gonna try to differentiate among south campus majors, it was just a general comparison lol.

south campus is more structured and disciplined and will kick you in the butt if you slack off. north campus can have equal amounts of work, but it’s more flexible and just a different ballgame overall.

Dumb question: Are psychobiology majors “part of” north campus or south campus? Or both?

I think that’s an interdepartmental major so you’d probably bounce between both.

it’s not interdepartmental. but it is a bit of both, since the pre-reqs are science.

^ yeah sorry you’re right. psychobio is a psychology department major and most of the req’s are math/science so thats a lot of south campus. The plain psychology courses I believe are north campus. Overall, after looking at all the major’s courses, it looks like you’d be spending most of your time south campus.
