I got accepted to RPI which is my number one school and I was pretty proud of it. But now I'm wondering if I mostly got in because I'm a girl and they need at least an okay amount of girls because they're about 70% male. I'm in several AP classes and did well on my SATs, but two other girls I know got accepted who don't take any advanced classes and did just alright on their SATs (like 1600's I think.) so now I'm wondering if it's even a big deal for a girl to get accepted to RPI, and will companies looking to hire from RPI be less impressed with a girl than a guy?

Any opinions?

It doesn’t matter how or why you got in. If you keep your GPA at a point that is competitive compared to your peers (especially the guys) then employers will see that as a plus. Getting into the school doesn’t mean anything unless you keep your grades up. People who got in because they are a minority, in this case females, will have a difficult time maintaining a high GPA.

Companies are looking for worker bees who can produce. If you do well at RPI, they will pick you otherwise not.

The circumstances of one’s admission to a college do not play a role in one’s recruitment from that college.

Okay, thanks for your opinions!
