lol no one cares about football at Gtown. Basketball obviously is our main sport.

You don’t “have” to like Georgetown. If American is where you feel you should be, then go for it. We don’t all “have” to like Harvard, just b/c it is great.

No. I visited Georgetown and was unimpressed by the student body.

GWU had tons of posters everywhere advertising events and political rallies and important causes. The student representatives talked about living in DC. Georgetown was pristine (a few chalk drawings) and the student reps mostly talked about how prestigious their school is. Everyone I saw dressed in the same way.

But some people find that appealing. Personally, kudos for liking American - when I visited I thought the student body was incredibly nice and interesting.

To each his own. There are many people that don’t like Georgetown, and many people that do. Same goes for every college in the country. I don’t know when you visited Gtown, but if you walked through Red Square, the dorms, the outside of the Village A apartments, or the Leavey Center, you’d see DOZENS of posters and flyers. Gtown isn’t any less politically (and otherwise) active than any other DC university. Also there is a wide range of clothing styles. It’s a myth that everyone at Gtown is preppy or rich.

I personally like American’s more park like campus, though the center of Gtown’s campus will get better with the completion of the new Business building and the Science Center.

If you love American, go there!! Seriously. And, prestige is so relative. American is less known and lower ranked, yes, but its international affairs program is right up there with the best of them.

I only applied to the 3 DC schools because I knew I wanted to come here. I go to Georgetown now, but I truthfully love the feel of GW a lot. Being straight in the city like that is so convenient and awesome. My boyfriend (sophomore) goes there so I spend time there often, and it’s a very cool school depending on what you’re looking for. I’m not pushing GW or anything, but just saying that there are definitely plusses and minuses to every school, even one as “prestigious” as Georgetown. At least American has its own metro stop…
