Is it wise to take Math 54 w/o taking Math 53?

Is it wise to take Math 54 w/o taking Math 53?

doesn't matter. 54 is not a continuation of 53. 53 is multivariable calculus, 54 is linear algebra/differential equations. they're unrelated except that you should know how to integrate.

linear algebra and multivariable calc are VERY MUCH related. However, you can learn one without knowing the other.

i meant the courses, math 53 and 54.

I'm planing on doing that squence out of "numerical" order too. I asked the professor who was supposed to teach it (he got switched) and a lot of upper division students and even a couple grad students and they all said it should be fine.

I gathered that the point is: If you take 53 after 1B, you continue on with integration and get the chance to forget diffEQ before 54 but if you take 54 after 1B, you get the chance to forget integration before you go onto 54. The goal is to not forget either :).
