Is it worth applying if OOS?

I am from Arizona and I was wondering if the engineering department at Purdue is strong enough to warrant the out of state tuition? How are job prospects for Purdue engineering grads? Would it be better to just stick with my state university?

Thanks

I know people are critical of rankings, but Purdue is highly ranked on pretty much every engineering list. Do a quick search and you’ll see.

We were at Purdue last week. Their CS program is solid. Great options in 8 different concentrations- software engineering and security are the most popular ones. We walked away impressed with the courses offered, the rigor and the facilities in the Lawson building. One thing that raised an eyebrow is that they have almost doubled their intake to 400 plus students in the past 3 years… compared to other schools which have held the enrollment steady in spite of the high demand in CS program. Does the increased intake jeopardize quality? given that the faculty size and other factors remain the same? or does it affect student retention? It would be too early to make a judgement on that…

Computer Science (CS) and Engineering enrollment at Purdue for the past five years in numbers:

YEAR: Program(Freshman,Sophomore,Junior,Senior)

2010: CS(183,121,110,121)
2011: CS(230,148,132,149)
2012: CS(262,140,122,155)
2013: CS(282,223,166,187)
2014: CS(311,237,208,208)

2010: Engineering(1919,1644,1555,1991)
2011: Engineering(1892,1704,1588,2041)
2012: Engineering(1808,1801,1816,2072)
2013: Engineering(1673,1860,1782,2328)
2014: Engineering(1590,1822,1864,2448)

A slight steady decrease in engineering enrollment but a significant growth in CS!

Year 2015, the intake was 435 students as per the department, so the way it looks is ( 435,311,237,208)- F-S-J-S
