My mom just told me that my grandmother graduated from deerfield. I know theres not much time left before the 15, but do you think its worth applying there because i am a legacy or will i just be wasting my time?

apply, the only way you can get rejected for sure is not applying ...

i wouldn't try it, because you would have to do all your recs, interviews, essays, and pay for a 150fee for SSAT and etc just for a chance that you put no effort into.

seriously? theres only 8 days left before apps are due. im not really sure...

Deerfield didn't go co-ed till the late 80's...are you sure your grandmother went there?

it might have been my grandfather, haha

you could try... though it might be a lot of stress

well, there have been some remarkable advancements in surgical operations over the years...

I would apply, visited today...great school.

It’s a bit late, but if you want to, then you should. But I don’t think you should do it just b/c your grandparent went there because it might not be a good fit for you, and it is not a major legacy.

if u want to go then apply, being a legacy will help a lot and trust me if u work hard 8 days is easily enough time to finish all ur stuff

Sure, when I was applying I applied to Milton just because my brother had gone there.

One school we visited told us that half of the applications are received in the last week before the deadline.
Are you interested in Deerfield? Do your stats put you in range?

Is the legacy grandparent still alive? If so, have the grandparent contact the school on your behalf to alert them to your application (after you have verified that you have the right school in mind).

Actually, the OP’s grandmother could have been a student there. Deerfield was founded in 1797 and was coeducational from the beginning until around 1948, when Mr. Boyden decided to make it boys only.

Guys this thread was made last year. I don’t think he is still deciding.
