<p>I want to apply to USC, but I just know that I will be rejected. Is there any reason that I even should? I know this seems stupid, but just wanted to ask.</p>
<p>The biggest issue I see in applying to schools that are unlikely is in taking away the time and focus from applications to schools where you have a chance.</p>
<p>That said, make sure to honestly assess your chances. If your stats are at the 25th percentile of a very selective school and you don’t have a hook, it’s most probably a waste of time. But if you’re just being modest and your stats are in the running, that’s another story.</p>

<p>if youre average, it doesnt mean you have no chance. it really depends on the batch of apps the admissions guy reads. its better to try than never knowing.</p>

<p>Go for it!! You never know - there may be that one line on your app that the school was just waiting to find, be creative about it!!! Everyone has their individual talents to contribute to a school community. If you don’t, you’ll be stuck with the "what if"s - better to just apply and see what happens…GOOD LUCK!</p>
<p>Listen, people think that you have to be brilliant to attend a lot of schools & it is just not always true. Each school has so many spots per major. That means if you are applying for a particular program that they have trouble filling spots then you have a better chance of getting admitted. Besides that you don’t want to spend the rest of your life wishing you had tried. At least you will know that you gave it a good shot. Good luck to you.</p>

<p>The key is to not to it so much that you’re too busy to work on the rest of your applications (and to make sure that you can come up with the money for the extra application fee). You’re talking about one extra school, not ten, so you’re not adding much work…why not go ahead?</p>
<p>It can’t hurt to try. I applied to Yale as my reach school. The chances of anyone getting into an Ivy League school are slim, regardless of their superior academic achievements and extracurricular activities. However, wouldn’t you be happier applying and knowing than you gave it a shot rather than regretting not even trying afterwards?</p>
<p>If you have time for the extra application, go for it! You never know :)</p>
<p>If you have the money to do so, go for it. I applied to four schools that I don’t think I’ll get into but I look at it this way, I’m pretty much expecting a rejection but if I get into even one of them, it’ll be a pleasant (to say the least) surprise. I’m sure you applied to other schools so if you don’t get in, you’ll be fine. If you do then you’ll be glad you applied.</p>
