Is it worth applying to UCSB even though I'll be missing 3 classes?

I'm applying for their Computer Science major. They require 2 physics classes and differential equations. I'll have everything done except those 2. I have nothing to lose by applying except like 70 bucks, but realistically is it impossible to get in without those classes?

Do you mean that you won’t have them done by Spring?

That’s right. The schools I’m applying to don’t require differential equations, and I can do 2 semesters of chemistry instead of physics. So that’s exactly what I’m doing. I should be 100% done with my prereqs for Davis, Santa Cruz, Irvine, and San Diego. BUT, I figure, why not apply to Santa Barbara as well. So no, I wont’ have any of those 3 classes done.

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, it’s up to you. If you would consider going to UCSB if you got it, it should be worth it. But if there’s virtually no chance that you would go even if you got in, then you should weigh whether or not it’s really worth $70.

But are my chances of getting accepted extremely low without those pre-reqs? Those classes are listed as required, but hey, maybe there’s a shot. I don’t know.

Well, if you’re sure that they’re listed as “required” then you’re chances are probably really low. You can call and ask there admissions department to know exactly. But like I said, your decision will probably mostly depend on how much $70 is worth to you, and whether or not you would actually go there.
