Is it worth going to McGill open house?

I’m a student from the UK thinking of applying to McGill and wondering if it is worth visiting their open house in October. What exactly happens at their open house?

I would like to visit Montreal anyway before I apply but the date of their open house is not so convenient for me. There is a EduCanada fair in London in early October which I am going to go to which representatives from McGill are going to be at, so I will hopefully have the chance to ask questions then, and if I visit Montreal at a different time I will still be able to take a campus tour. What else happens at open house that I would be missing out on if I did this, and is it worth going to?

While you should definitely visit before deciding to enroll there is no need to attend the Open House. It is a convenient way for applicants to get all the information they need in one place. Visiting at other times will give you an idea of day to day life. Tours are available most days. Also visiting in the winter will give you an idea of what a Montreal winter can be like! Just avoid university holidays e.g. Christmas break. There is also a lot of construction on lower campus this year.
