Is it worth it for me to apply to Ivies? Be brutally honest please I need it

With your passion for government and foreign service, I’d suggest you go for D.C. colleges, as well as Ivies. Despite all the naysayers–realistic as they are, I think you seem like a thoughtful, mature student who has really devoted a huge effort to your G-related ECs, so I predict some Ivies will love you. Harvard, with the IOP would be a great fit, Princeton with Woodrow Wilson School, Georgetown, GW, or American U. Best of luck!

@fauve thank you so much!

Thoughts on ED to Harvard???

Please be realistic and learn as much as you can, don’t apply blind, based on encouragement about stats and ECs. You have to know how to present yourself in the full app. As i said before, S and B detail shows how many top performers get rejected. It’s not all about stats and sime shiny ECs, not even about a crack essay. H rejects 95%,.

@lookingforward I think I’m being realistic, if I don’t get in I don’t get it you know? I’m not saying I’m a top competitor I’m saying if I don’t try then I’ll always be left wondering. The worst thing I can do is take my self out of the running. What do you think PERSONALLY lol, is it worth it for me to apply scea to Y or H? Just wondering hahaha be honest

I sent you a pm a few days ago. I personally feel kids should have a fuller understanding of what tippy tops look for. Otherwise, you’re just taking a potshot. Yes, I think you’re bright. But it takes more.

4.0 and 33 should put you into the game at the tippy tops. I doubt highly any of them will sneer at a 33 – they all admit plenty of students with lower scores than that, except maybe Caltech. The 4.0 is impressive.

And the only way to have a 0% chance is to not apply.

Just make sure you pick some matches and at least one safety too.

@prezbucky oh of course! Even my safety schools i really like!!!

Besides great academics, H & Y are looking for mature people who know what they want to accomplish in life, and exhibit integrity, honesty, resilience, and compassion for their fellow students. If your GC can write excellent things about your character, that will be far more compelling than one more point on the ACT.

So, if you feel you will be described as one of the top 2-3 in your class, do apply EA to your favorite school. Hope for the best, plan for the worst, as the saying goes.
