Is it worth it for me to go back for EECS?

Most definitely not too old. In fact, no age is too old to pursue what you want. I've taught a lab section with students that are in their mid 30s, and that's a junior level undergrad course.

there are plenty of people in their 30s getting masters...even though you'll be doing a BS first, you'll be doing that in your late 20s...i agree with everyone, it seems like you WANT to do this, and thats important, because you may not have the same drive in a few years to begin the road to a BS....
and..CU-B is a great school, and is in a wonderful location! it was actually second on my list of engineering schools (for AE or EE), but i succombed to my state school, which is also in the top 20 for engineering =P
good luck with all of this, you sound like you're very driven, and that will help you succeed more than anything else, so just trust your gut instinct

dew, don't worry about rankings. Unless you want to go into academia, you shouldn't. Information is information and textbooks get updated all the time. Thus, you might see some different teaching styles and communications between MIT and a not-so-well-known college (for instance), but they all teach the same information. Like sakky said, one would earn a lot more reading and learning the material him/herself, in addition to hand-on experience at the lab. Overall, I must vote yes to your decision to return as a full time student. Don't burn youself off during the school semesters and take a decent course load. For summer school, I highly recommend it. Even if you get a BS/MS at 30, that's not a big deal at all. You 20s and 30s, and yes your 40s; you are very qualified to learn and be an engineer.

CE/EE > IT. It shows that money can't buy everything, you only live once in this universe, make it a good one.

Do it. . . By your arguments you've already shown you have the drive to pursue this career path. It looks like your mind is already set. Go for your dreams. Live your life! You'll never get it back. .

Thanks for all the replies guys!!!! I'm think I'm gonna do it and go back! :)

As soon as I have saved enough to maintain a budget for 3-4 years (without starving) I'm outta this job and back into school! :)

Thanks again!
