Hi College Confidential! I have a quick question that I was hoping you all could assist and offer your suggestions. I am currently going to be a sophomore next year (finished my first year) and have applied as a transfer student to a few different colleges. I have now heard back from all of them, and the school that I am most interested in attending is American University. The only issue I currently have is money. American sadly did not offer me any merit aid and, I know for a fact that I will not receive any kind of need based financial aid due to my parents income level. I am currently attending a university that I will not have any debt when I get out of school. However, my current school does not offer the academics, support services, and professor that I want; American University does. If I attended American University I would need to take out about $15k in loans each year (total of $45k of loans after three years). My question is transferring to American University and taking out $45k worth of loans worth it? If it helps I am planning on being a Communication Major. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I thank everyone for their help :)!
