Is it Worth it to Apply to Oxbridge and the LSE

I'm interested in applying to oxbridge and LSE, but I don't know if I should. I'm taking a "gap year" this year and am applying to colleges during the year. I'm interested in studying computer science and finance and pursuing a career in financial engineering. There was a point when I wanted to apply to these colleges, so I'm somewhat familiar with the process for overseas students (take the TSA, prepare a lot for the interview, submit your application by October 15th, etc.).

Personally, I don't like the inflexibility of the British system because you can't double major and can't switch degree programs. In addition, I've heard that there's a lot of writing in UK Schools, even for technical majors like Computer Science. I don't particularly like writing and I was hoping to avoid it as much as possible in college. Despite these problems however, I think the British system has some important advantages.. My GPA is rather low (between 3.75 and 3.85), but my test scores are fairly good. I have 5's on AP Macro, AP Micro, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, and AP Computer Science. In addition, I like that you can apply to 5 schools with one UCAS application.

Here are my test scores:

SAT 1: 2320
SAT II: 800's on two subjects tests, including Math II
AP: Took 14 AP exams and got fives on almost all of them

Do you think its worth applying to UK colleges given my academic profile? Do american students even stand a chance if they come from non-IB schools?

Also, I know that I posted this on a different thread. I'm sorry for double-posting, I just wanted some more opinions.

I’d say the bigger issue is that they look at internationals as piggy banks

That’s true, but a UK degree takes three years to complete. My family doesn’t qualify for much financial aid, so I think a degree in the UK would be cheaper.

Look at McGill in Canada

bumping for more opinions…
