Other Info:
I had a REALLY BAD freshman year. I was unmotivated and unaccustomed to my new HS environment. I didn't take any honors or AP courses and got a lot of C's and one D which I later made up in summer school.
Sophomore year I did OK, and overall it was a vast improvement over my freshman year. I took 2 honors and 2 college classes in US history and Political science got a 3.80 1st semester soph year, 4.00 second semester soph year.

Is it worth applying?

If you decide to apply and take the SAT IIs, Stanford requires Math IIC and Writing and a 3rd subject of your choice.

oh alright. thank's for letting me know. i'm a little confused as to the SAT II situation. The UC's have changed their requirements to just 2 SAT II's of your choice.

Can someone comment on my chances now?

masha - wow, about the UCs, seriously?

as to Stanford: you appear to be doing quite well now, and unis like to see an upward trend. For sure, you will be disadvantaged by your rank, but yes, depending on your essays, recs, etc. there is a chance.

my rank is considered bad? I'm in the top 7%. I brought that rank up from the bottom half of the class back during second semester of freshman year. What's a decent class rank for Stanford?

bump......................

You guys suck. lol. RESPOND, i hate being desperate

Wait until the end of junior year, and then evaluate your chances. Stanford focuses on soph-senior year, so junior year ends up being a pretty big deal. If you do really well this year, they can probably overlook less impressive grades freshman year. Really strong grades, great recs, and interesting activities/awards would put you in the running for admission.
