Is it worth it to be in a L-LC? (University at Albany)

Is it worth it to be in a Living Learning Community? ESPECIALLY, if it's not your major? I got accepted to Japan House at University at Albany.. but I'm not majoring in Japanese or East Asian Studies or anything like that, but I am planning to study aboard in Japan. But, is it worth it? Are L-LC students very restricted? Are their experiences a lot different from a mainstream student? Do I have to stay in L-LC til I graduate? Is L-LC very time consuming? I would like to hear pros and cons from non L-LCs and L-LCs, from University at Albany and also from other colleges! Any insight appreciated! Thanks!
