Is it worth it to keep trying?

Do these schools all have ED coming up? Definitely follow up with the coaches ASAP!!! Coaches want to make sure that any potential recruit is serious about their school.

As a follow-up to my post above. The signing period for track and field (Div. 1) is:
Field Hockey, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, Men’s Water Polo: February 2, 2011

Regarding ivies, I do know that some schools hold some RD slots that they appear to not give out until December/January. Also, in talking to the coach of an elite non-ivy D1, the coach said that, in their experience, all schools still have places to negotiate for up until the RD admission date. For one school, the word was that they hold these slots in the hopes of picking up some strong recruits for whom things fell apart with a school they had previously committed to in the EA/ED round.

thrower1, it’s not at all to late for your son to be recruited for track and field. Absolutely have him email all coaches at schools he is interested in attending. The first round is over, but the dust is settling, and coaches who have not filled their rosters will be very interested in knowing who is still available. This is a good time for him to update any information he might have sent them already: if he has new test scores to report, or other academic, community or sports awards, it’s a great excuse to check in.
Best wishes.

Thank you all. I appreciate the feedback. While this is my second child entering college, it is our first go round with athletics. He will continue to follow up with the coaches. He is still getting letters of interest from his coach from other schools. Some D3 - but that is fine. He is not going to throw a ball for the rest of his life!

*Hey, I know this was a while ago, but for anyone reading this: I have been on a official visit and offered a likely letter to this school. I am now deciding between it and another school, hooraaay!

Thanks for the update, and

CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey, i0p3de, thanks for checking in, and congratulations! What a great position to be in, and it’s only February! So the answer to the question you originally posted is:
