I just finished my freshman year at a CT state college. This past spring semester I got 5 As and one C+ (in math), so my GPA was a 3.7 for the semester and I have a 3.5 overall. I’m taking 3 summer classes later in the summer and if I get As in those, I will have a 3.6 overall GPA. I want to apply to transfer to colleges such as University of Maryland College Park, American, Temple, Baruch, Rutgers, and UMich (a reach). If I retake my math class and get an A as well as in all of my other summer classes, I would have a 3.7. Is this worth it for the schools I want to apply to for transfer? Or should I just forget about it and move on?
bump…can someone please answer!
You got a C+ in that class. It’s better to move on. In addition, most unis won’t let you retake a class you passed. And any school you transfer to will still see that C+ on your transcripts.
What most unis would recommend is that you take an additional math class, at a higher level than that one you took, and ace it. If you know, however, that you won’t ace it, don’t do this - move on.
Thank you for replying! Yeah you’re probably right. There really is no point in retaking the class since the colleges I will apply to will see the grade anyway.
Do you even need a math class for your major? If you don’t, embrace that C+ with joy and move on with your life.
Unfortunately yes. I am a Economics Major and the class was applied calculus but it is the only math class required for my major
Well since it is the only one required for your major, my advice still holds. A C+ in one tough college class is something lots of people end up with.
Yeah you’re probably right. Plus I just realized that I forgot the statistics class I’m taking in the fall so it’s 1 of 2 math classes required for my major. Thanks for replying and for the advice.
