Is it worth it to take a gap year in a language?

Hi, I am currently a rising Junior and considering taking a gap year in my language course. My school requires taking either 3 years of one language or 2 years each of two languages. I have already finished Chinese 2 and 3, but I really want to take AP Chinese next year, so my teacher has given me a chance to test out of Chinese 4 at the end of the summer. However, if I dont pass, I am considering two options, one take a gap year in my language course to take AP Chemistry and then try and test out of Chinese 4 senior year. Another option that I am considering is taking another language and self studying for the Chinese AP test. Any opinions?

Also a separate question, at my school none of the language classes are bumped (4.0) except the AP course. I have seen posts where people have language honors where the boost is added. Do colleges consider this because there is no option to take an honor language courses at my school.

Thanks in advance

Your efforts would be put to better use to pass the Chinese 4 test than engaging in “what if” scenarios.

Because every HS seems to weight differently, colleges will usually either look at unweighted or will weight according to their parameters. I would not worry about this. FWIW, my HS did not weight at all, and every year, the students somehow get into good colleges.
