Is it worth it to update my application?

At this stage of the game is it worth it to update my application for Hopkins? The update would mostly be qualifying for AIME and USABO semi-finals, as well as receiving both academic and sportsmanship awards for my winter sport, but if I push it off until Saturday I can include results from state finals for Science Olympiad. Should I send it now, Saturday, or wait for the possibility of a waitlist?

This is mostly for AdmissionsDaniel, as I'm fairly certain that he's the one that actually has to read my app. With organizing (and alphabetizing) all of these apps, I figure that to a certain extent this can get annoying. Thanks for your input!

It's important to utilize the search function sometimes, you can usually find your answer to pressing questions like these. ;)

I'm pretty sure Admissions_Daniel would reply with the same response that he did on February 28, 2008, to another poster, copied below:

"All application updates must be submitted by March 1st, no later. Any updates after that will not be processed. And as I have posted a number of times before, to update one's application:

To provide an update to a previously submitted application you must compose a letter of update and either fax it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (410-516-6025) or mail it to:

Application Coordinator
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Johns Hopkins University
Mason Hall
3400 N. Charles St.
Baltimore, MD 21218

Please make sure that all updates include the applicant's full name, birth date, and school (social security number is helpful but optional). WE WILL NOT PROCESS UPDATES RECEIVED THROUGH EMAIL."

In the event you are waitlisted, I would save your updated award information and present it in a supplementary resume/document.

Good luck! :)

Yeah, they've probably already come to a decision at this point.

Good luck though.

Hm, I guess I probably should have checked that. I guess it's nice to have something to pull out if I get waitlisted though!

Yes, definitely. How do you know Daniel is reading your APP though?

If he is, then that might mean you're psychic, and that alone is something to update your App with.

Well, I'm kinda addicted to the Hopkins Insider Blog, and there was a post a couple weeks back that said that New England is his "territory" and I just kinda took it to mean he, his dog, and his niece will be reading my app.. (anyone who reads his blog should get that one)

Updates will be processed through this Friday (March 14). Any updates received after that date will not be added to one's files. See Tanya's post for the details on submitting updates.

I personally do first reads on applicants who attend High School in the following states: ME, VT, NH, MA, RI

And the update should be sent through mail only?

pmalone, congrats on ur new achievements!

Since updates have to be received by this Friday ... mail won't work. As I stated above, you can also fax and that would be the only method of updating one's application at this moment.

Admissions Daniel
Do you think JHU would think lesser of me for updating my application by email since that's what I did a few days ago....(past March 1). Supposedly we were supposed to do it by mail/fax?
Thanks

to Iworrytoomuch: You should definitely fax your updates ASAP. I don't think the admission would take emailed updates.

Actually Iworrytoomuch email updates work best since they are more readable...at least thats what I did and it worked.

No we do not "think lesser" of applicants who email updates, but there is a strong likelihood that emailed updates are not processed. See my message above ... we requested that updates be mailed or faxed.

More importantly, time has passed for updates. Any updates received now will most likely not be seen by the Admissions committee.
