So my college decision has been pared down to Vandy vs. UGA Honors. I am pretty sure I will attend some sort of grad school, so money is important. My big question is: What justifies the $35,000 a year gap in expense between the two schools? UGA Honors offers the same level of academic challenge and opportunities.

If you are sure “UGA Honors offers the same level of academic challenge and opportunities”, then I think you have already made up your mind.

$35K per year is a lot of money whether or not you plan on post-grad. education. However, I will point out that not all post-grad schooling carries the same cost to you. Law, med, vet, MBA and some other professional schools are on your own dime. Many PhD programs cover tuition and fees, plus provide a living stipend for students. Tech fields, natural sciences and research-heavy social sciences are in the latter category.

Good luck deciding, but you haven’t said anything negative about UGA Honors, so I doubt anyone here will even try to convince you to spend an extra $35K for the next four years.
