I would have to respectfully disagree with the notion that a 4.0 student with a 25 has a better chance than a 3.4 with a 34. Obviously it is a holistic admissions process so everything is taken into account (course rigor, extracurriculars, etc.) but the ACT/SAT allows adcoms to distinguish the GPA inflation that high schools may have. I don’t really think someone with a 4.0 and a 25 ACT really stands much of a chance unless they have an incredible hook. However, I believe that a 3.4 GPA and a 34 ACT has an above average shot at admission. In OP’s case, I’m saying that a 30 ACT is just below the average for the entering CoE students. It will likely not hold him/her back tremendously but it will not particularly be spectacular to the adcoms. Also, I would like to add that the average is 31 for OOS and Instate. The average ACT for OOS will likely be higher.
