Okay, so I've done a year of speech and debate already. However, I don't especially enjoy it. The only reason that I would continue is because I'm an officer of my team, and I know that it looks good on resumes.

What should I do?

dont waste your time on something you're not passionate about. instead, put that extra time into something you really care about--that will always look better. (and you can always explain that to them in apps)

I agree with Missjoy. If you don't like it, don't do it! If you're not passionate about it, it can and will be seen through your essays and/or interview. And colleges will definitely prefer an honest "I used to be an officer at Debate but I realized that my true passion lay in kayaking/ping pong/whatever so I decided to pursue it" rather than a fake "Oh I love debate, I think I'll pursue it for the rest of my liiiiiiiiiiiiiiife" kind of things.

keep at it, as long as u don't absolutely hate it. if it's something you're ehhh on, u could do other things that really make u happy :)

Speech and debate is something that a LOT of applicants to competitive schools do. It is not so original that you will stick out because of speech/debate alone. So if you replace it with another EC that you like, you will have the same effect, but more fun in HS.

Don't suffer through it. I did that for cheerleading (had my "letter of resignation" ready every practice, but tried to stick with it. Partly because of my quarterback bf. Oops tangent, sorry) and it just made those months miserable.
