Is it worth it?

Cost is very important...will you be taking loans to cover the $25,000 difference, if so, then goto UW...also, you are not being left behind at UW...I believe they are tied with Harvard for most CEOs at large companies, I am not sure the data as I've read it on here recently. The college is beautiful, right on the lakes. And come on...the football games at Madison look like so much fun...=).

Wisconsin will get you into any grad school you want, if you do well. I went to Purdue and the only grad school i wanted to goto was Berkeley and got in straight out of school. I had friends accepted at MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, etc...you can tell I'm an engineer no doubt...I had Wisconsin friends at Cal. A top public school, like Michigan, Wisconsin, Berkeley, UCLA, Purdue's Engineering and management, etc...will not hold you back. If you work hard, you can go to any number of companies or grad schools. It's the person that matters most, and the school is a helpful starting place.

That said, if you aren't borrowing a lot of money to goto U of C, and if that's where your heart is, go there.

Any school can definetly be worth it, and if you are willing, possible with loans and outside scholarships. Chicago or some other place might be worth the extra money, so don't just rule them out.
