Is it worth it?

I am attending UCR this fall (commuter school) and I have the opportunity to go abroad this coming spring to Argentina for 8 months. Half the trip is a 4 month spanish immersion program offered through one of the best schools in the country. It would be through the UC EAP, so my housing, insurance, tuition, minor excursions, etc would all be covered through my financial aid of the two semesters of which I would miss at UCR.

This whole trip is built up for the second half, to intern for the embassy in Buenos Aires, to which I have already worked for over a year domestically for the same agency. All in all I believe the experience would drastically improve my spanish and be just a amazing life experience in general. My main concerns are I am already 25 years old and I just feel it may just hold me back too much time from graduating. I just don't know if this would be the smart thing to do, I mean, becoming fluent (or damn near) in spanish and having the international experience, but is it worth graduating with my BA at 28 years old?

I would really appreciate peoples opinion on this....

you live once. i say go for it.

I would kill to have that opportunity for free.

If the expereience will help you with your personal career goals I would go for it…
