Is it worth me applying?

Vanderbilt is somewhat foreign to me. I live in Florida, and I have been planning on going to UF for awhile. But Vanderbilt has been in my head for a long time. Vanderbilt costs lots of money. I don't know how the schools compare. I want to apply just to apply and then make up my mind from there.

Do I actually have a chance at getting in?

Prospective economics major math minor hoping to one day do high finance. I feel Vanderbilt will prepare a little better than UF, even if the MBA/graduate level degree matters more and Vanderbilt academics may put me at a disadvantage for the admissions due to lower GPA.

Thanks.

I think you should definitely apply. Your stats look good for it, and my understanding is that Vanderbilt isn’t as expensive as they seem. I applied this year, and they seem to be very generous with need-based financial aid - they also give out all their aid in grants, not loans. So if money is the only concern, I would say apply and see how much money you get. They are need-blind and will meet 100% of your demonstrated financial need.

Also, they don’t have a supplemental essay, so you really don’t lose much by just applying.

Yes, you should apply. You should also visit if you can. It is a great school and it’s a beautiful campus.

Admission statistics for this year’s accepted students:

* Middle 50% SAT (CR+M): 1440 – 1540

 • Middle 50% ACT: 31 – 34
 • % in Top Ten % of Graduating Class*: 92%
 • Average Rank in Class (% from top)*: 3.8%
 • Overall Admit Rate (as of mailing day): 16.3%

Good luck!

Vanderbilt is very difficult to get into but your stats seem pretty good. You should really do your research before applying to schools. If UF has always been your top choice, you may want to look for schools more like it.

Thanks for the input, I value it immensely.
