Is it worth mentioning in CA?

Last summer, I participated in CampNanoWrimo, national novel writing month, and achieved their challenge which was to write a novel worth up to 50k words by the end of the month. I did and it became a very rough manuscript. And I also have a book, currently being updated in Wattpad,a popular site for budding writers and readers alike, which has over 200,000k views and about 5k votes overall. I didn't really win a "big" award or a big certificate for campnanowrimo. But can these be classified as extracurricular activities and be worth mentioning?

I do believe it is worth mentioning, and even highlighting if you have a chance in your essays or short answers. Colleges prize good writing skills. For many majors, being able to (and even liking to) communicate well in writing is an important component of the curriculum.

If it is possible for someone to view your book/views/votes on the Wattpad, site, I would include the link in your activities section. Also, ask your recommender(s) to mention your writing efforts; this can be a third party source to verify that you have a demonstrated passion for writing.

It’s worth mentioning. It shows a love of and commitment to writing.

There is an “Additional Information” section in the writing section of CA. I feel like this is the type of thing you would put there, since I don’t know how easy it is to put a number of hours to these activities. Also I believe you can be more elaborate in the “Additional Information” section than in the normal EC section.

If you’re still not sure where to put it, and you should definitely put it somewhere, and you’re a junior, I would just email a rep from one of the schools you are applying to and ask them.

Thank you! Now, that’s not a bad idea–providing link to my work. Hmmm…

That sounds pretty awesome! If you don’t have enough room to put it in your ten activities, include it in your additional information.
