You have a very good shot, but I wouldn't say "50+%" -- very few have such a shot, and you're an ORM applying from NJ.

If this kind arrogance shows through, you'll get rejected.

You have the stats, and you know it. Now try to work on presenting yourself as a person people will enjoy having on campus...

sorry... i didn't really mean at all to come across as arrogant, it's just that stanford is a school that I only recently added to my list, but since I haven't done anything for the app yet, I only want to apply if my chances are really good. I have heard that they are particularly hard for kids from NJ. I really don't "know it"--I think compared to the rest of the CC applicant pool I'm pretty average.

This would be arrogance: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/361380-application.html

lol that isomorphism is pretty arrogant
i'm so jealous you guys can find such great research opportunities. im guessing most of you live in big cities?
anyway, your chances are great, since you research is outstanding (esp seimens). Your scores are also great (very similar to mine) but too bad that 240 was on the PSAT.

actually i don't live in a big city at all- i think it comes down to searching out a professor and working with them- at least that's how i did it. Also summer programs are a good way to get involved.

the only professors i know are at local community collegse.

yea- it's tough i agree, but you have to come up with an idea, and then even that works- all i needed for my project was a hood and some basic chem stuff, and I made siemens semis-I could have done it at my high-school.

wow...good job. i dont know much about stanford, but it's probably in the same league as the other best schools, and i think u can def. get into schools like mit and harvard, so probably stanford too

don't you realize college isn't about acceptance? it's about going someplace you love and WANT to spend the next four years of your life. Since you obviously have no concern for the school, I wouldn't apply, it gives other people who actually want to go there, who are passionate about Stanford, the chance to attend.

Thanks.

not everyone who applies to a school really really really loves it. thats why some people apply to like +10 schools

oh wow...stanford is my dream school, and i don't even have half of the chance that you do...sooooooooooooo jeolous!!
well, i say you should apply. i think you have a good chance :)

sorry for my rudeness before, I still think you should only apply to schools that you really would want to go to, not schools that you just want to get into, however, in response to your question, your credentials are legit, you have an awesome chance of getting in if you do apply, just make sure to show your true voice in your essays

it's actually in my top 3 choices, sorry if it came across as though I didn't want to go there.

niceilike, I don't understand why you take me as arrogant and bash my thread. I think I made it clear that it wasn't a chance thread, and that instead of acceptance percentages, I wanted input on possible majors and schools.

On the other hand, you've stated that you think you have around a 50% chance of getting into your school. Never have I made any such claim.

You've actually posted a CHANCE thread, and you have many awards and activities which I think are much MORE PRESTIGIOUS than mine. So why do you accuse me of arrogance?

You were attacked for arrogance. If you had merely stated that that was not your intent, I'd believe you, as would many others in this forum. But what is your justification for bashing my thread?

sorry dude but i guess it was just that someone who knows they are perfect-like have a 100% chance of getting in everywhere probably shouldn't have accompanied a thread about "possible majors/schools" with stats. but you explained yourself later in your thread that you weren't meaning to show off so it's all good.

By the way, what I like about your resume is that you have remarkable spread. You're not just focused in the sciences; you also do everything else well. Therefore, I think that Stanford and Harvard are very reasonable choices for you.

iso, i took your thread as arrogant too...

here you are, a 2400 student with virtually perfect EC's and awards and you're asking for weaknesses...seriously?

i know you said you weren't looking for chances and it wasn't your intention to offend, but did you really expect anything other than praise and jealousy from the readers of your post?

I would guess that you probably posted your wonderful stats to get reasurrance. You probably start to doubt your accomplishments and need to hear that all is ok. Rest assured... you are fine. Hang in there. So many great candidates on this site that we all start to doubt.

i dont know why people are hating on you so much. niceilike never said anything arrogant at all.
i think you have a good chance man. you should apply.
